Obituary of Myrtis Pamela Gilcrease

Myrtis Pamela Gilcrease October 13, 1931 - September 23, 2013 Funeral services for Myrtis Pamela Gilcrease, 81, of Lovington, NM will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Hillcrest Baptist Church at 10:00 am with Bro. Travis VanMeter officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Hobbs. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Gilcrease was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana on October 13, 1931 to Willis Benjamin and Sarah Elizabeth (Jordan) Sims and passed away at her home on September 23, 2013. She was married to Samuel Gilbert Gilcrease on May 28, 1948 in Natchitoches, Louisana. Mrs. Gilcrease was a nursing assistant, an activities director, physical therapy assistant and a cook at La Siesta Nursing Home and enjoyed taking care of others. She loved fishing, camping, gardening, flowers and cooking. She loved going to church at Hillcrest Baptist Church where she was a member and loved visiting with her family, the grandchildren and her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Terry Delane Gilcrease and one daughter, Dianna Caudill; five sisters: Lucille Hall, Audrey Riha, Orean Gass, Edna Mae Rhodes and Cora Gass and three brothers: Lucian, Otho and Robert Lee Sims. She is survived by three sons: Samuel Roy and wife Theresa Gilcrease of Hobbs, NM; Tom Gilcrease of Hobbs, NM and Larry Dean Gilcrease of Stuttgart, AR; one daughter: Gloria and husband Keith Jernigan of Lovington, NM; one brother: Wilbert and wife Bertha Sims of Hobbs and one sister: Louvinia and husband Albert Lester of Shreveport, LA; ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
