Obituary of Benjamin Arreola

Watch the Tribute Benjamin Arreola April 28, 1938 - August 25, 2013 Funeral services for Benjamin “Ben” Arreola, 75, of Lovington, NM will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 10:00 am at Revival Center Church with Gilbert and Al Arreola officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Arreola was born on April 28, 1938 in La Villanueva, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Ines and Sara (Escobedo) Arreola and passed away in Lubbock, TX on August 25, 2013. He came to Lovington in 1956 and was in the restaurant business. He was an excellent cook and worked in several restaurants in this area, including managing the Ranchers & Truckers Café at the Sale Barn and owning the El Chaparral Restaurant for many years. He also was the fry cook at the Western Grill for 11 years. He loved the horse races and owned his own race horse at one time and enjoyed working with cattle. He liked coin collecting, gardening and was a great storyteller. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Arthur Arreola. He is survived by one son, Edward Arreola and Ezie Venzor of Lovington; one daughter: Anissa Kay and husband Rudy Rubio of Lovington, five brothers: Efrain Arreola and Gilbert and wife Doris Arreola all of Lovington; Eddie and wife Adela Arreola of Dallas, TX; Al and wife Rachel Arreola of Lenexa, Kansas and Oscar and wife Teresa of Carrollton, TX; five sisters: Raquel and husband David Ysasi of San Benito, TX; Elvia and husband Robert Blanco of Angleton, TX; Lillie and husband Jose Garcia of Lovington; Irma Arreola and husband Luis Sanchez of Lovington and Orfa Dunlap of Garden City, Kansas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to www.kirbysmithrogers.com.
