Ms. Neel was born on August 24, 1922 in Nocona, Texas to David William and Minnie Hazel (Harrison) Poindexter and passed away at Lovelace Regional Hospital in Roswell, NM on May 26, 2016. Her father was a cowboy and they lived many different places working on ranches during her growing up years. While her father was working on Spring Ranch she met and married Clifford Willis Neel in Carrizozo, NM on August 8, 1941. While living in Oregon she was a member of Rebekah’s. In 1963 they moved to Muleshoe, TX to farm. Mrs. Neel was a wonderful homemaker and the epitome of a great farm wife. She was an accomplished seamstress, making the clothes for her family and enjoyed quilting. She had an amazing “green thumb” and her garden was one to be coveted and her love of flowers was evident by looking at her garden. She canned their garden vegetables and worked hard for her family and on the farm. She never had a driver’s license but she could drive on the farm. She was a member of 3rd & Central Church of Christ for over thirty years. She was a strong woman, mentally and physically and had strong opinions and strong discipline. Her family was her priority and her love for them was her most important joy in life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; two sisters: Margaret Marshall and Imogene Castleman- Pohl; five brothers: D.W.Jr, Harold, Rex, Ken and Ted Poindexter. Surviving her is one son: Larry and wife Martha Neel of Fallon, NV; two daughters: Barbara J. Little of Lawrence, KS and Linda Neel and her companion Don Leach of Lovington, NM; three brothers: Wayne Poindexter of Ruidoso, NM, Bill Poindexter of Las Cruces, NM, and Tom Poindexter of Truth or Consequences, NM; two sisters: Shirley and husband Eugene Mingus of Douglas, AZ and Marena Morris of Elfrida, AZ; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
