Obituary of Michael Eugene Rice

Michael Eugene Rice June 03, 1955 - August 13, 2014 Memorial Services for Michael Eugene Rice Sr, 59, of Haskell, TX. and formerly of Lovington, NM, were held on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 6:00 pm at 400 N. East Street. Local arrangements were under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Michael was born on June 3, 1955 in Lubbock, TX. to Bobby Joe and Jeanette Rice and passed away on August 13, 2014 in Abilene, TX. He moved to Lovington, NM in 1946 attending schools here and graduating from Lovington High School. He married Pat Strickland on March 1, 1991. He worked for Ferguson Construction for many years as a foreman of his own crew. In 2007, he and his wife moved to Haskell, TX. Mike enjoyed hunting, gambling and loved taking his grandchildren fishing. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette Rice. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Rice of Haskell Texas; his father, Bobby Joe Rice of Lovington, NM; three daughters: Carolyn and husband Joshua Franco of Lovington, NM, Lisa and husband Sean Robinson of Lovington, NM, and Dena and husband Zack Gudgell of Albuquerque, NM; two sons: Michael Rice Jr. and Clay and Stacy Sparks of Jacksonville, NC; three sisters: Lori and husband Vernon Johnson of American Fork, Utah, Suzanne and husband Russell Norris and Pat Rice of Lovington, NM; 10 grandchildren: Makayla, Kaleb and Alex Franco, Skylar and Dillon Rice, Aaron and Jay Sparks, Keely and Kambel Robinson, and Abigail Gudgell.
