Obituary of Anna Mae Covey

Anna Mae Covey March 03, 1923 - October 11, 2013 Memorial services for Anna Mae Covey, 90, of Lovington, NM will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at First United Methodist Church at 10:00 am with Dave Whitman officiating. Anna was born on March 3, 1923 in Guernsey, Iowa to Erle F. and Mabel J. (Isaacson) Evans and passed away on October 11, 2013 in Hobbs, NM. She married William “Bill” Covey in Livingston, Montana on June 6, 1950 and they came to Lovington in September of 1955 and built themselves a home in 1958. “Ann” or “Annie” as she was lovingly called, was office manager for twenty five years for McNutt Insurance Agency and she was a regular each week dancing with and enjoying the residents at Good Samaritan Center. She was a long time active member of First United Methodist Church; a charter member of Nor-Lea Hospital Auxiliary and was Auxiliarian of the year in 89-90 and 95-96 and was also BPW “woman of the year” in 1964. She enjoyed being a good jokester, traveling and probably has been to all of the VFW dances in this whole area. She loved dancing and was very talented. Annie was very organized and was a wonderful, loving and giving person. Friends were drawn to her like a magnet because of her sweet personality. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters: Dorothy Evans Krejci and Mary Evans Wissink and one brother: Russell Evans. She is survived by one brother: John and wife Florence Evans of Oregon; one nephew: John Mark Wissink of Norwalk, IA; three nieces: Mary Jo Biehl of Winter Garden, FL; Karen Watkins of Milwaukie, OR and Brenda Goth of Bristol, ME. and a host of friends.
