Obituary of Jimmy A. Gutierrez

Funeral services for Jimmy A. Gutierrez, 67, of Lovington, NM will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at New Beginnings Church at 10:00 am with David Villar officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Gutierrez was born on February 7, 1952 in Clovis, NM to Benito and Rosa (Garcia) Gutierrez and passed away in Lovington on May 25, 2019. He was raised in Vaughn, NM and attended school there, graduating from Vaughn High School. He then joined the air Force in 1971 and after serving he went to college at ENMU Roswell. He worked at TMC, building Greyhound buses for three years then started doing body work and painting. He lived in Ruidoso for a while, then returned to Hobbs and worked for Opportunity House and later for Lea Regional Hospital and then for NMJC and retired in 2017. He also enjoyed fishing and watching cage fighting. He was a joker and love to laugh and be with his family. He loved his family very much. Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter: Monica Guiterrez; one son: Jimmy Gutierrez Jr. and two brothers: Avelardo and Bennie Gutierrez. Surviving him is his wife Cathy of the home; three daughters: Sonia and husband Chester Solomon of Waldrop, Maryland, Cheri and husband Pito Marquez of Dexter, NM and Nicole and husband Eloy Tovar Jr. of Lovington; three brothers: Angel and wife Rita Gutierrez of Grants, NM, Lester and wife Lucy Gutierrez of Weatherford, TX and Albert and wife Margie Gutierrez of Santa Fe, NM; two sisters: Candy Cordova of Ruidoso, NM and Mickey and husband Leonard Sanchez of Ruidoso, NM. Also ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
