Obituary of Robert Lee Lambright

Memorial services for Robert Lee Lambright, 66, of Hobbs, NM will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 2:00 pm NM time at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lovington, NM with David Villar officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Robert, known to many as "PaPaw", passed away on September 29, 2019 in Lubbock, TX. He was born in Hobbs, NM to Jim and Wanda (Thompson) Lambright on August 21, 1953. After attending Lubbock High School, Robert met the love of his life, Eileen Elizabeth Bailey and they were married on March 3, 1975 in Lovington, having shared forty four wonderful years of marriage. Robert began working in the oilfield for Sharp Drilling and this was the start of a forty two year career in the oilfield, where he had been employed by Landis Drilling, Blair Machine, McVay Drilling, Patterson Drilling and for the last three years with Rocky Mountain Cummins. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, family and grandkids, listening to old music, dancing (we all know he could out-dance most of us), going to garage sales; working in his yard, spending time on the lake, and washing the truck, (which really meant it was time for a water gun fight and we all knew who had the biggest water gun). He loved spending time with his family and visiting with anyone that needed to talk or just wanted to visit. Robert had an infectious smile no matter where he was and he never met a stranger. Preceding him in death were his parents, Jim and Wanda; one son: Tommy Odis Lambright; one sister: Brenda Witt; his best friend: Dennis Long and many other lifelong friends and family. He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his wife Eileen of the home; daughter: Janice and husband Paul Bates of Gonzales, LA; son: Bobby and wife Cherity Lambright of Buchanan Dam, TX and daughter: Shelly Lambright and husband Kevin McCurter of Hobbs, NM. Eight Grandchildren: Michael, Little Mikey, Micah, Clayton, Justin, Tommylee, Dallas and Elizabeth; Six great-grandchildren: James, Gabe, Emma, Branson, Lyrah, Taelynn and a godchild: Shannie Long and numerous other adopted children and grandchildren. Also, one brother: Jimmy and wife Leona of Levelland, TX; and one sister: Debbie Shipley and husband Mac of Saginaw, TX, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to be sent to the American Cancer Society in memory of Robert Lambright. The family extends an invitation to you to join them for food and refreshments following the service at the Fellowship Hall of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
