Obituary of Yvonne Embree

Funeral services for Yvonne Embree, 89, of Lovington, NM will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 10:00 am at First Presbyterian Church with Dorothy Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Ms. Embree was born on October 6, 1930 in Hochatown, Oklahoma to Leslie Albert and Gertrude (Fish) Clinton and passed away on November 24, 2019 in Lovington, NM. She grew up in Broken Bow, OK and graduated high school there, then attended Southeastern State College in Durant, OK. She met her husband, Trudo Thomas Embree while there and they were married in DeQueen, Arkansas on December 27, 1951. They traveled while Tom was in the Navy and returned to SE State College and completed their Masters Degrees. In 1957, they were recruited as a couple by H. C. Pannell to come to Lovington to teach. Yvonne taught second grade for many years at Lea Elementary while he taught at Central Jr. High School. After Tom's death she traveled the world with her friends who were also widows. Yvonne was a very active and loyal member of First Presbyterian Church. She loved and was totally dedicated to the Oklahoma Sooners. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Tom; two sisters: Vontrice Lacy and Reba Joines and one brother: John Wesley Clinton. Surviving her is one son, Tommy and wife Judy Embree of Lovington and one daughter: Julia and husband Dennis Poe of Tempe, AZ; one brother: Doe and wife Johnnie Clinton of Broken Bow, OK and one sister: Geleta Marcum of Broken Bow, OK. Also, one grandson James Embree of Lovington, NM.
