Obituary of Jose Reyes

Funeral services for Jose Reyes Jr, 58, of Lovington, NM will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel with Fabian Seña officating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Jose was born on February 14, 1961 in Denver City, Texas and passed away on February 4, 2020 at Lubbock Heart Hospital. He was a valentine baby that loved buying his own birthday cakes and loved to have his own birthday parties. His favorite cake was a chocolate Heart cake. Music and dancing were some of his favorite pastimes and he did some D. Jaying and was known as "Teddy Bear". He had many other nicknames also, such as Big foot, Uncle Buck, Big Joe and Pepe. Jose was a truck drive and had his truck Cowboyed up, Dallas cowboys that is as he was an avid and faithful fan of those cowboys. He had a very loving heart and was very generous and never met a stranger. He enjoyed picking fun fights with his family as he was the "jokester" of the bunch. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father. Surviving him is his wife Aurora of the home, one son: Daniel Hernandez and his significant other, Sivonney Alvarez of Hobbs; one daughter: Delita Zuniza of Lovington; His mother: Irene and husband Armando Aranda; one brother: Robert and wife Eva Reyes of Hobbs and two sisters: Sylvia Reyes of Hobbs and Ruth Reyes of Lovington; two nephews: Michael Reyes and significant other Andrea Benevidez of Hobbs and JJ Reyes of Lovington; two nieces: Crystal and Ramona Reyes of Lovington and one grandchild: Davian Carter Hernandez. Visitation will be Monday, February 10th from 11 am – 6:00 pm and Tuesday from 9:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
