Obituary of Mackey Maree Wakeland

Memorial services for Mackey Maree Wakeland, 47, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Fellowship of Believers Church, 5609 North Grimes in Hobbs, with Johnny Blalack officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. The family has requested that all who attend please wear bright colors in honor of Mackey as she loved happy colors. Mackey was born in Lovington, NM on May 28, 1972 to Jimmy Mack and Reatha Wakeland and passed away in Lubbock, TX on February 20, 2020. She graduated from LHS where she played softball and kept things interesting as her dad got kicked out of game being supportive of her. She loved animals and her house was always a zoo of animals as she took all kinds home with her, lost or owned. She had a "cackle" laugh that was awesome and made you want to hear it again and a sense of humor that kept everyone laughing. She enjoyed feeding all the kids who came to her house. Although not a Betty Crocker, she was a good cook if she made instant potatoes and could "rock" those potatoes ! She was very involved in Girl's Ministry, "SheSozo" and was a 'Cool Life" graduate. She taught children's church at Crosswinds and more recently attended New Beginnings Church. She enjoyed Christian worship music. She especially loved supporting her grandson and went to all his events and she loved her family and friends very much. Surviving her is one son: Caleb Wakeland of Hobbs, NM; one daughter: Lyric Maree Wakeland of Hobbs; her parents: Jimmy Mack and Reatha Wakeland of Lovington; one brother: Daniel and wife Angela Wakeland of Lovington and her sister Valaree Smith and Joe Whitman of Lovington and one grandchild Tyrant Wakeland and a host of friends.
