Obituary of Emma Cervantes

Funeral services for Emma Cervantes, 67, of Hobbs, NM will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Peter Rubiston officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Cervantes was born on July 24, 1952 in Artesia, NM to Juan and Porifira Perez and passed away in Lubbock, TX on March 9, 2020. She grew up in Artesia and later her family moved to Hobbs where she graduated from High School and then went on to beauty school. In 1970 on Valentines Day she married Monse Cervantes and they have shared fifty years together. Emma liked going to the Casino, going to the horse races and taking rides and stopping to get a burger or eating green chili burritos. Drinking Dr. Peppers with peanuts in it was one of her favorite things, besides loving her grandchildren, whom she raised as her own. They were her joy and priority and each one shared how loving, caring, giving and important she made them feel. They shared that you couldn't ask for a better grandmother except for her car, she wouldn't let them or anyone else drive her "Cougar", It was off limits! She like simplicity, enjoyed laughing at George Lopez and loved her family. She will be greatly missed. Preceding her in death were her parents; one son: Roy Cervantes; one sister: Toni Galindo and four brothers: Paul, Johnny, Sammy and Armando. Surviving her is her husband: Monse of the home, one daughter: Monica P. Cervantes of Hobbs; four brothers: Ishmael and Ida Perez, Martin and Martha Perez, Domingo Perez and Felix and Kate Perez, all of Artesia; three sisters: Lupe Salmon of Lake Arthur, NM, Dora and David Martinez of Artesia and Olga and Bobby Cortez also of Artesia; and five grandchildren she adored: Jeremy Adam Navarro, Justin Daniel Navarro, Orion Adan Navarro, Evan Gabriel Villalobos and Sarahi Bella Villalobos. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12 from 1:00 to7:00 pm at the funeral home with Rosary at 7:00 pm at the chapel
