Obituary of Alberto S. Marquez

Funeral services for Alberto S. Marquez, 72, of Lovington, NM will be held on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Jorge Vargas officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Alberto was born on December 30, 1947 in Barrancos de Guadalupe, Chihuahua, Mexico to Manuel Zubia and Alicia S. Marquez and passed away on January 21, 2020 in Lubbock, TX. Alberto married Tina Trotter December 18, 2001 in Lovington, NM. He was a farm hand and liked ranching and horses. Alberto liked watching YouTube and wrestling. He loved animals especially his dog Pequena and his cat Kitty. Alberto liked tinkering with things, collecting junk and also trading the junk with his sons. He was preceded in death by his parents Manuel Zubia and Alicia S. Marquez. Surviving him is his wife Tina Marquez of Lovington, NM; Four sons: Albert Marquez Jr. and wife Danna of Levelland, TX., Oscar Marquez and wife Holly of Lovington, NM, Harvey and wife Christina of Hobbs, NM, Sergio Marquez and Olivia Fierro of Haltom, TX., and one step-son: Scottie Armstrong of Snyder, TX.; one daughter: Rosalinda Marquez and David Lamb of Lovington, NM.; two step-daughters: Gail Greathouse and husband Ridge of Post, TX., and Harriett Walker also of Post, TX.; four brothers: Noel Marquez, Manuel Zuvia, Daniel Zuvia, and Savino Zuvia all of Ojinaga, Mexico; thirty grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 1:00 pm till 5:00 pm and on Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 10:00 am till 5:00 pm. at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel. Rosary will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 7:00 pm at his residence 405 W. Ave. O.
