Obituary of Danny Darrel Reynolds

Memorial services for Danny D. Reynolds, 62, of Lovington, NM will be held on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 10:00am at First Baptist Church in Lovington with Pastor David Sellar officiating. Danny was born on July 30, 1957 in Bloomington, Indiana to Jasper Earl and Isabel (Melton) Reynolds and passed away at his residence on June 28, 2020. Danny grew up in Indiana and attended school there where he played basketball. He also enjoyed playing softball every summer and had a good time playing with the family until it got too hard for him and fast pitch was his favorite. He loved playing basketball with Daniel. In the late "70's" he came to New Mexico and met Becky and they were married on October 10, 1980 and have shared forty years of life, love and family. Danny was employed by P & D Petroleum when he first came to Lovington and for the last twenty plus years he has been employed with the City of Lovington. He liked going to Ruidoso, to different lakes and streams and just go play and relax with his family. Encouraged by his father-in-law, Joe Lewis, he began learning how to cook brisket and barbecue and it became a great outside get-together for friends and family. Most of Lovington has had a taste of Danny's good brisket. He was very supportive of his kids and grandkids sports and activities and was a patient, quiet man that was a fun person and enjoyed teasing everyone with his dry humor. Danny was called "the Damn Yankee" by Joe Lewis. He was a loved and well-thought of man who will be greatly missed by all. Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother: Bill Reynolds and two sisters: Janie Reynolds and Betty Grubb. Surviving him is his wife Becky of the home; one son: Daniel and wife Teri of Willis, TX; two daughters: Danna Reynolds and significant other, Miguel Quiroz of Lovington and Becca and husband Matt Perry of San Antonio, TX; two brothers: Jerry Reynolds and Michael and wife Sondra Reynolds of Indiana; five grandchildren: Sierra, Kobe, Brenin, Jaden and Jacob and numerous, loving nieces and nephews and extended family. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to: MD Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77030 in memory of Danny.
