Obituary of Robert Merritt Sharp

A "Celebration of Life" gathering for Robert Merritt Sharp, 81, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Jackson Ave Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. We would love for you to gather with us to honor his memory and share a cup of coffee and a memory. Known to all as "Bob", he was born on March 31, 1939 to Dennis and Mary Belle Sharp in Alturas, CA and passed away on August 7,2020 at his home in Lovington, surrounded by friends .Bob was drafted into the US Army serving in the Vietnam Era. After his discharge he came to Lovington via the Dal Alexander family. Known for his skill with livestock, he made his livelihood working on the Alexander Ranch where he has made his home for many years. He genuinely loved the livestock he cared for and would name them and visit with them as he drove through the pasture. Bob had a voracious appetite for knowledge and one of his passions was reading. He had many handy talents and could fix most anything. He worked at the Lovington Sale Barn for several years and was also a well-known welder in this area. You could find him twice a day at various restaurants around town enjoying coffee with his friends. He was a simple man that loved the simple life and wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother: Richard L. Sharp and an infant daughter, Charlotte. Surviving him is his daughter: Lizabeth White and husband William and their sons; Jordan and Justin of Lovington; two brothers of Arizona; many special friends and his coffee buddies.
