Obituary of Magdalena Cabello Acevado

Funeral services for Magdalena Cabello Acevado, 90, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Samuel Ameh officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Ms. Acevado was born in Terlingua, Texas on July 22, 1930 to Vicente and Praxedes (Gonzales) Cabello and passed away at Lovington Healthcare on September 6, 2020. Magdalena came to Lovington in the late 60's to make her home. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and was also part of the Crusillistas. Magdalena was the epitome of a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and sewing and making her daughters clothes when they were growing up. She also liked to crochet, especially doilies and making quilts. She made many quilts for her grandchildren. Spending time with her family was her passion and she had a quick wit and always had a comeback when teasing with her family. She was a joyful person who worked hard all of her life. She will be greatly missed. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband: Antonio Acevado; one great-grandson: Albert Juarez; three sons: Martin, Israel and Antonio Jr; five brothers and four sisters. Surviving her is one son: Vicente and wife Martha Cabello of Midland, TX; two daughters: Catalina and husband Oscar Dominguez of Lovington and Mari and husband Dimas Valencia of Lovington. Also, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10 from 1:00 pm until Rosary time at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
