Obituary of Kevin Lee Bailey

Graveside services for Kevin Lee Bailey, 61, of Lovington, NM will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 10:00 am at Lovington Cemetery with Reverend Jaime Quinones officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Kevin was born in Hobbs, NM on August 13, 1959 to Barney Monroe and Shirley (Wood) Bailey and passed away on September 14, 2020 in Lovington. He was a lifelong resident of Lovington. Kevin enjoyed hunting, playing golf, going to the casino and had a love/hate relationship with the Dallas Cowboys. He liked music especially Elvis Presley's and also Eminem as he liked the beat. He was a super funny guy and kept you laughing and loved picking on everyone, especially his family. He had a nickname for everyone and a sassy attitude when cutting up with his family and friends. He loved animals and worked hard caring for the cows and animals especially when younger. He was one of the smartest people and could figure out almost anything. He always kept family close and reached out to all the extended family keeping them checked on and involved with family. Kevin was very protective of family and he really loved being with the boys and he probably traveled thousands of miles going to their games and sports events. He was a private person but was compassionate and forgiving and loved the Lord. He grew up attending the Presbyterian Church. He was strong and determined and pushed himself to get better and stronger after any of his setbacks physically. He grew in the wisdom of the Lord with any of his illnesses. He was an amazing, talented, caring, humorous man with a huge capacity to overcome whatever beset him. He will be greatly missed. Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother Bill Bailey. Surviving him is one brother: Bryan Bailey of Lovington; one sister: Karen and husband Jim White of Marfa, TX; and his "consider" son, best friend, partner and brother all combined, Michael and wife Kelli Bailey of Lovington; also two special nephews that he was very close to, Josh and wife Hannah Bailey and Caden and wife Bailey Bailey, all of Lovington and numerous other nieces and nephews and extended family.
