Alvin Earl Powell, 75, of Midland, TX passed away on December 7, 2020 in Big Spring, TX. Alvin was born on December 2, 1945 to parents, Alfred and Alice Powell in Wolfe City, TX. He married Betty Bryant in June of 1965. They were married for over 55 years. Alvin worked in the oil industry most of his life and had a very strong work ethic. He started as a Roughneck when he was young and worked his way up to Drilling Superintendent at Hondo Drilling Company. He left the oilfield for a few years to live on a lake and own a small store in Luther, TX with his brother James. However, he returned to the oilfield working as a Sales Representative at Big D and then Express Energy until he could no longer work. Alvin loved camping, fishing, fixing things at home, finding a good bargain, and taking care of his cat, Morris. He spent every vacation camping and fishing in the mountains. He couldn't pass up a garage sale, auction, or flea market. He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Alice Powell and his brothers Larry and James Powell. Alvin is survived by his wife Betty of Midland and their children, Jeffrey Powell of Ira, TX, Roger (Becky) Powell of Kerrville, TX, and Lisa (Frank) Abbott of Frisco, TX; his grandchildren Stephen (Diana) Powell of Comfort, TX, Tyler Powell of Kerrville, TX, Ryan Abbott of Frisco, TX and Natalie Abbott of Frisco, TX; great-grandchildren Londyn, Paisley & Bentley Powell; his sister Myrtle (Arnold) Spears of Lovington, NM.
