Obituary of Frances M. Derrick

Frances M. Derrick September 22, 1921 - October 01, 2009 Funeral services for Frances M. Derrick, 88, of Hobbs, NM will be held on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ron Ragland officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Services are being directed by Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Derrick was born on September 22, 1921 in Dexter, NM to Harry and Maude (Schenaman) Porter and passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2009 in Hobbs, NM. She was married to Aubrey Northam and Loren Derrick, both having preceded her in death. Mrs. Derrick raised her family in Lovington and Maljamar and was a resident of Lea County for 50 years. She has made her home in Hobbs since 2002. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and at one time was employed as a bus driver. She enjoyed sewing and working in her yard, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Derrick's greatest accomplishment was the pleasure of nurturing the growth of her family. Her life was guided by her faith in the Baptist teachings. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, two sons: Fred and Ray Northam; one brother: Merle Porter and one sister: Leota Danley. She is survived by her two daughters, Edith Pigeon of Hobbs, NM and Shirley Cristy of Cheyenne, Wyoming; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2009 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home.
