Obituary of Georgiena Lu Smith

Funeral services for Georgiena Smith, 83, of Lovington, NM will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Jackson Ave Baptist Church with Dave Rowser and Jimmy Charles Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Georgiena was born on August 19, 1937 in Antrim County, Michigan to Edward and Gretchen (Willson) Weisler and passed away on December 24, 2020 in Lovington. Georgiena was a multi-talented lady that had great compassion and a servant's heart and was first and foremost a Christian. She was a long time active member of Jackson Ave Baptist Church, taught Sunday school, led the kitchen committee fixing meals for families, helped establish the FCA meals at New Hope School and adopted an international child that she supported. She was a giving person, a prayer warrior, a listener and a very non-judgemental person. Georgiena enjoyed sewing, and especially quilting. She had made quilts for her loved ones and for many friends. She had her own A/C tractor that she loved driving and working outside. Known as "grandma George" or "gg" by her grandchildren she was greatly loved. She was truly the epitome of a loving, wife, mother, grandmother, friend and definitely a "Proverbs 31" woman. She will be greatly missed. Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband Dean Smith, her grandson: Ty Fitzgerald; one sister Jo Baca and one brother, Douglas Weisler. Surviving her are two sons: Charlie and Joanna Smith of Bedford, Indiana and Steve and Michelle Smith of Borger, TX; three daughters: Charlotte and Eldon Smith of Seminole, TX; Carolyn and Jimmy Charles Crawford of Lovington and Michelle Wiggins of Las Vegas, NM; two brothers: Pete Weisler and Janet of Lovington and Crayton Weisler and Sharon of Albuquerque, NM; two sisters: Glenda Gilbert of Las Cruces and Winnie Marion and Gene of Tularosa, NM; Also, 23 grandchildren and thirty six great grandchildren and a host of friends.
