Graveside services for Joel "Joey" Adams, 68, of Lovington will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 11:00 am at Tatum Cemetery with Matt Thackerson and Harry Pittam officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Joey Adams, better known for "Papa Joe's BBQ", passed away on January 24, 2021. He was born August 28, 1952 in Corsicana, Texas to Don Allen and Mary Beth (Holladay) Adams. He spent most of his life as a Tatum resident, graduating from Tatum High School. Joey and his wife Cheri Caster Adams grew up together and they married August 24, 1973 in Tatum. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Tatum and Lovington. He was also a beloved son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. Preceding him in death was his father: Don Allen Adams. Surviving him is his wife Cheri Adams; his mother Mary Adams; sister: Debbie and Maurice Mitchell; children: Cassie Adams, Courtney Watson, and David Adams; grandchildren: J.P Kirk, Jason Kirk, Kyle Watson, Kolten Watson, Haylee Adams, Michael Adams and also his mother-in-law Felba Caster.
