Obituary of Merle Virginia Sherman

Funeral services for Merle Virginia Sherman, 92, of Lovington will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel with John Glenn officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Merle was born on March 5, 1929 in Persia, Tennessee to John and Lottie (Pitts) Logan and passed away on May 25, 2021 in Lubbock, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Merle was a hard worker and was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was a very caring, strong woman. Merle loved country music and enjoyed dancing. She liked taking care of all people, raising flowers and enjoyed reading. She liked animals especially her cat. She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Lottie Logan; son: Michael Hinrichs; daughter: Terry Sullins; one great-great grandson: Thomas Walker and seven siblings. She was survived by three sons: Mark Hinrichs of Lovington, Carl Sherman and wife Rhonda of Wills Point, TX and Robert Sherman of Lovington; two daughters: Kim and husband Johnny Glenn of Hobbs and Laurie Kemp of Lovington; two brothers: Bill Logan of Pensacola, Florida, and Gary Logan of Brownsville, TX; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
