Obituary of Sean Thomas Guthrie

Sean Thomas Guthrie, aged 40, went home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2021. He was born on April 30, 1981 in Hobbs, NM to Robert and Teresa Guthrie. Services will be held at First Christian Church in Lovington, on Saturday, June 19 at 10:00am with interment at Prairie Haven Memorial Park in Hobbs at 2:00pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home of Lovington. Sean, his wife and their children were originally from Hobbs, but had recently moved to Lubbock, TX. He was a loving father, husband, son and brother and was a graduate of both Lovington High School and New Mexico Junior College. He served in the military and was honorably discharged from the New Mexico National Guard with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. An avid technology enthusiast, Sean spent most of his career working as an IT Administrator, most notably at Lea County Electric Coop, and most recently at SGS Engineering. Sean is survived by his wife, Amanda (neé Wier) as well as his children - Zachary Guthrie of Pueblo, CO; Hannah Guthrie of Hobbs, NM; and Sean Isaac Guthrie and Elise Guthrie of Lubbock TX. He is also survived by his parents, Robert and Teresa Guthrie, and brother, Philip Guthrie, all of Hobbs. The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Lubbock Christian University Foundation Scholarship or to the New Mexico Junior College Foundation Scholarship.
