Obituary of Beatrice Starks

Funeral services for Beatrice Starks, 70, of Lovington will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 10:00 am at 3rd & Central Church of Christ with David Stewart and James Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Beatrice was born on December 9, 1950 at Shallowater, Texas to Willie Sr. and Pauline (Washington) Howard and passed away on June 16, 2021. Beatrice grew up in the Amarillo and Lubbock area and attended school in Plains and Wolfforth. She came to Lovington in 1970. She was a very active and faithful member of the Church of Christ and would walk to church if she didn't' have a ride. She was considered the "family babysitter" but she was partial to keeping the boys. Music was a joy to her and she would make up her own funny songs and she liked dancing and she especially loved to talk a lot!! The family said she loved to shop and was a "shopaholic hoarder!!" She was preceded in death by her parents: Willie Sr. and Pauline Howard; her husband Jerry Starks; and two sisters: Emma Howard and Patsy Vaughn. She is survived by three brothers: Willie Howard Jr. of Lovington, Louis James Howard of Lovington, Perry Howard and wife Paula of Hobbs; a bonus brother; Robert Palaneo and wife Jacqueline of Las Vegas, NM; five sisters: Willene McBride of Lovington, Luella and husband Willie Jackson of Lovington, Joyce Howard of Lovington, Nadine and husband Henry Hilliard of Killeen, TX. and Jeanie and husband James Hutchings of Austin, TX.; twenty-one nieces, nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to www.kirbysmithrogers.com.
