Obituary of Joan Marilyn Tucker

Joan Marilyn Frenzel Tucker was born to the late Freddy Ray Frenzel and Billie Maxine Frenzel on June 20, 1943 in Brady, Texas. She lived in Mason, Texas until 7th grade when the family moved to Hobbs, New Mexico. She graduated from Hobbs High School in 1961, and continued her education at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. At ENMU she met and married her beloved husband, Burrell Lewis Tucker on June 1, 1963. Joan graduated from Eastern New Mexico with her MBA. They moved to Dallas, Texas for Burrell to attend Dental School and had their first child, Matthew Thomas. Joan worked for IBM as a data support analyst. Upon graduating from dental school, they relocated to Hobbs where they began Burrell's dental practice and they welcomed their second child, Jennifer Leah.
Joan enjoyed working and always pursued her goals. She had many roles including professor, Vice President of First Interstate Bank, and President of College of the Southwest. She was also a certified Christian Life Coach and a realtor. She enjoyed serving on the boards of Lea Regional Hospital and Spencer Theater for the Performing Arts. Joan balanced her family life and work life beautifully with grace and high standards.
God was the center of Joan's life. She loved her family, friends and her country. She cherished the relationships she built in the community as well. Spending time at their home in Alto, New Mexico brought her immense happiness. Her five grandchildren, Tucker, Jackson, Garrison, Lily, and Luke are her joy. She loved supporting and cheering for them in all their various activities. Joan covered her family and friends in prayer daily which brought them great peace and comfort. Her work ethic, faith and steadfast love will be her legacy. Joan passed away on January 14, 2022 in Carlsbad, New Mexico with her family by her side.
Joan is survived by her husband Burrell, of 58 years; son, Matthew and grandchildren Lily and Luke of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Jenny and husband, Greg Scott of Hobbs and grandchildren Tucker, Jackson, of Lubbock Texas and Garrison of Hobbs; her sister Janice and husband Tommy Rowland of Las Vegas, Nevada. Niece, Bryce Collette and husband, Donnie of Las Vegas, Nevada and their children, Brooke and Lauren. Nephew, Jason and wife, Jennifer Rowland of Las Vegas, Nevada and their children, McKenna, Marlie and Greyson. She was loved by numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Fred and Billie Frenzel.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 28, 2022 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Nick Matthews and Pastor Jotty Kinney officiating.
