Obituary of Nelda Joyce Bevers

Nelda Joyce Bevers, 86, of Lovington, NM was called to her heavenly home on May 8, 2022. She passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on August 30, 1935 in Welch, TX to Floyd and Merle Greer and married Jerry Lynn Bevers on June 26, 1960 in Lovington, NM. She grew up in Lovington, a town she loved and never left. After her high school graduation she was employed by Heidel Law Office. In later years, she worked for the Denton Gas Plant and then at the Lea County Treasurers' office and also the Lea County Clerk's office until she retired. Nelda enjoyed traveling (not by plane but by car) so she could see the countryside. She was an avid shopper, as she loved clothes and it was important for her to look good. She was always looking for a good deal or a good sale. Playing games with her family and friends was a favorite pastime for her and if you played at her house, you played by her rules, not necessarily the rules in the play book. Cooking was another passion of Nelda's and everyone could count on a feast when eating at her table. She loved trying new recipes and had quite a collection. She also liked visiting with her friends by phone and catching up on the Lovington news. She was a lot of fun and kept you laughing and was a pleasure to go places with or to visit with her. Preceding her in death was her husband, Jerry, her parents: Floyd and Merle Greer, four brothers-in-laws: Larry Wooton, Jim Bevers, Jack Bevers and Ted Bevers; also, two sisters-in-laws: Pat Homer and Vickie Bevers. Surviving her is her son, Lynn and wife Angela Bevers of Sundown, TX; one granddaughter: Dawn and husband Bradley Mitchell and one great-grandaughter: Marley Mitchell; her sister: Waynette Wooton and one brother, Ted and wife Melba Greer; two sisters-in-laws: Donna Bevers and Bobbie Bevers; brother-in-law: Paul Homer and many precious nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of wonderful friends.
