Obituary of Alice Hicks

Funeral services for Alice Ruth Smith Hicks, 78, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dave Rowser officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Alice was born on January 11, 1946 in Clarksville, TX. to James Edwards Smith and Viola Mae Ferguson and passed away on May 23, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her beloved family. Alice married the love of her life Kenneth Todd Hicks on July 22, 1966 in Lovington, NM where they built a beautiful life together for 49 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her home was always a haven of love, warmth, and welcome. She was kind in spirit but strong in character, living a life that encouraged and uplifted those around her. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her entire world, bringing her endless joy. Alice loved antiques and coin collecting she always ensured that each new baby arriving in the family received a coin set minted with their birth year. Alice never missed sending birthday and holiday cards, often with a little cash inside, to her loved one. Alice was preceded in death by her parents: James and Viola; her husband: Kenneth Todd Hicks; one brother: James Edwell Jewett, whose wife Pauline still resides in Burleson, TX. She is survived by her siblings: Wanda Jean Tomlinson and spouse Darrell of Odessa, TX; James Robert (Sonny) Smith and spouse Patsy of Lubbock, TX; Lillie Fern (Cissie) Shaffer and spouse Rex of Arlington, TX; Norma Mae Caudill of Springs, TX; two daughters: Becky LeAnne Hilton and spouse Clayton of Riviera TX., and Vivian Viola Riddle and spouse Kevin of Tuscola, TX.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Kendra Shawnee Williams and spouse Tyler of Hawley, TX., Jessica Lynn McGee and spouse Travis of Anson, TX., Tyler Dwayne Cochran and spouse Megan of Baird, TX., Joshua Todd Cochran and spouse Sharayah of Dexter, NM., Kolton Bryce Riddle of Tuscola, TX., Adeline Mae McGee, Presley Paige Cochran, Dixie Danielle Cochran, Wyatt Kenneth Cochran. Alice also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved and adored deeply. Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel 1106 N. Main Street Lovington, NM 88260.
