Funeral services for Frances Espinosa, 85, of Lovington, will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 10:00 am at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel with Arthur Sanchez and Gilbert Arreola officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Services are being conducted by Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Espinosa was born on October 13, 1925 in Dexter, NM to Amalio and Francisca (Ocon) Sanchez and passed away on Thursday, January 06, 2011 at her residence.
She came to Lovington in 1934 and attended Lovington schools. She played the clarinet in the LHS Band but was very musically inclined as she played the guitar, harmonica and the piano. She married A. O. “John” Espinosa in Lovington on June 27, 1942. She was a great cook, loved her family, supported them financially, emotionally and spiritually as she was a strong woman with great faith. Her life reflected her Christian walk and beliefs. She was a member of the Spanish Church of God. She enjoyed music, her roses, her dog “Bang,” drawing, sewing and her soaps “tele-novelas”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one infant daughter, Connie Espinosa, one grandson: Nick Espinosa; her beloved son-in-law, Samme C. Sims and two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by three sons: Carl and wife Alice Espinosa of Lovington; Rudy and wife Minerva Cebreros Espinosa of Loving, NM; Orlando and wife Rita Espinosa of Lovington. Four daughters: Gloria and husband Charles Dockery of Walland, TN; Emma Fernandez of Victorville, CA; Virginia (Gina) and husband Donald Rhinehart of Lovington, NM and Elaine Espinosa-Sims of Roswell, NM. Also surviving her are five sisters: Rosemary and husband Robert Springer of San Marcos, CA; Eva Aguero of Roswell,NM; Erma and husband Adolph Maldonado of Ruidoso Downs, NM; Mollie Ruiz of Roswell, NM and Maxine Sosa of Dexter, NM. Also, Twenty one Grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, January 7, 2011 from 4pm until 8:00 pm; Saturday, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm and Sunday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
