Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Ms. Faith was born in Marlow, Oklahoma on December 4, 1926 to A. D. and Lola (Miller) Haston and passed away on October 19, 2015 in Lovington. She and her husband, John Thomas Faith, came to Lovington in the late 60’s to make their home. She worked at By-Low Grocery, Sears, and substituted at the schools. She served as a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Center for many years; was a member of the Grandmother’s Club; was active in the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary (formerly known as the “Pink Ladies”) and a very supportive Mom of her family. Her love for the Lovington Wildcats was evident as she was known as “Mama Football.” She claimed she had been to more football games than Brian Urlacher. She was a “ham” and enjoyed having fun with her family and friends. Dixie was a very talented lady. She enjoyed canvas painting, crocheting and had created many beautiful Afghans. In the early years she did some modeling of uniforms for each branch of the military service. She was an active, long time member of Third & Central Church of Christ.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one brother: Frank Haston and one sister: Elma Dean Mock.
She is survived by three sons: Greg and wife Fatima Faith of Lovington; Speedy and wife Pam Faith of Lovington and Denney and wife Angelyn Faith of Albany, TX; two brothers: Jr. and wife Karla Haston of Jacksboro, TX and John Lee and wife Annalou Haston of Ballinger, TX; one sister: Letta Jo Stephenson of Lubbock, TX; nine grandchildren: Chad and wife Amanda, Krystie and husband Robert, Daniel, Josh and his wife Rachel, Kala, Aaron, Audrey, Alex and Adam; nine great-grandchildren: KC, Collin, Pecos, Lauren, Tim, Brooklyn, Bronx, Jaxton, and Diem and a host of nieces and nephews and many friends whom she treasured.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to “Casa De La Esperanza” c/o Third & Central Church of Christ, P.O Box. 1315 Lovington, NM 88260.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct.21, 2015 from noon until 8:00 pm with the family in residence from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
