Simon Garcia Valdez February 18, 1939 - November 30, 2007 Funeral services for Simon G. Valdez, 68, of Lovington will be Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Deacon Sam Navarrette officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Rosary will be Monday, December 3, 2007 at 7:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel. Mr. Valdez was born February 18, 1939 in Artesia, NM. He passed away November 30, 2007 in Lovington, NM. He was a hard worker, loved to travel and loved his family. He is survived by two sons, Cruz Munoz and wife Anita of Artesia, NM and Luis Valdez and wife Delma Lujan of Lovington, NM; two daughters, Josephine Valdez of Lovington, NM and Rosa Gallegos of Lovington, NM; three brothers, Isabel Valdez and wife Margaret of Lovington, NM, Manuel Valdez of Roswell, NM and Angel Valdez of Artesia, NM; one sister, Esperanza Valdez of Artesia, NM; grandson, Jaime “Milo” Valdez; 5 Grandchildren; 4 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Valdez; parents, Emeterio and Juanita Valdez; one son, Simon Valdez Jr.; one brother, Ismael Valdez; one sister, Teresa Zarazua.
