Obituary of Angela Miranda Gomez

Angela Miranda Gomez August 02, 1947 - October 11, 2014 The Lord has called his daughter, Angela Miranda Gomez on October 11, 2014. The rosary will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 7 p.m. at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services will be on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Helena’s Catholic Church. Interment will immediately follow at Lovington Cemetary. Pallbearers to serve are Ronnie Goree, Kareem Goree, Allen Gomez, Ruben Jaramillo Jr., Kristian Jimenez, Marcos Gomez, Ismeal Gomez Jr., and John Gabriel Gomez Jr. Honorary pallbearers are A.J. “Papitos” Jimenez, Michael Goree, and Yuseff Awward. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Angela was born in Celaya, Mexico on August 2, 1947 to Maria Alicia Villa Gomez Miranda and Marcelino Miranda. She grew up in Lovington, NM. Angela attended the nursing program at New Mexico Junior College where she earned her degree as a licensed practical nurse. She met the love of her life, Ismael Gomez Sr. in 1973. They married on May 3, 1974 in Carlsbad, NM. They enjoyed 40 years together. She was a caring and dedicated nurse for much of her life. She retired to take care of her grandchildren and then returned as a CNA to continue healing others. She retired again in 2010 due to declining health. Angela’s idea of a good time was spending time with her husband “Elvis”, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. She is survived by husband, Ismael Gomez Sr., seven children, Christina Gomez and friend Ubaldo Rendon, Rachel Gomez, JoAnn Awwad and husband Jamal, Ismael Gomez Jr., John Gabriel Gomez and fiancé Marcia Frausto, Deanna Gomez, Marie Gomez and Sol Jimenez; daughter-in-law, Leticia Gomez; sisters, Maria and husband John Robinson, Elaine Giordano, Susan Callahan; brothers, Ruben Miranda and wife Rosa, Bill Miranda and wife Leona, Manuel Miranda and wife Blanca; 22 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and all the children that she welcomed into her home with open arms and considered her grandma. Angela was preceded in death by brother, Joe Luis Miranda; father, Marcelino Miranda; sister, Esther Baeza; and mother, Maria Alicia Villa Gomez Miranda. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014, from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donate to the kidney foundation of your choice.
