Obituary of Guadalupe Arenivas

Guadalupe "Lupe" Arenivas August 29, 1958 - January 30, 2018 Memorial services for Guadalupe “Lupe” Arenivas, 59, of Lovington, NM will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel with burial to follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Lupe was born on August 29, 1958 in Casa Grande, Arizona to Esteban A. and Elisa P. (Paz) Arenivas and passed away on January 30, 2018 at his residence. Lupe came to Lovington in 1973 and has worked in the oilfields since he was seventeen. He was a hard worker and a very devoted friend. He enjoyed taking the grandkids fishing and was called “Grandpa Lupe” by his grandchildren. He was a caregiver for his mother until she moved and was committed to his family. He loved playing the guitar and was the life of the party in younger years, sharing his sense of humor with all the family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Esteban A. Arenivas; one brother: Esteban Arenivas Jr.; one son: Michael Nava. Surviving him is his mother Elisa P. Arenivas of Visalia, CA; one son: Eric Arenivas of Hobbs, NM; one daughter: Christina Arenivas and fiancée, Travis Courtney of Lovington, NM; one sister: Ramona and husband Billy Granado of Visalia, CA; his former wife Irene Arenivas of Grand Junction, CO; four grandchildren: Michaela Gonzalez of Lovington, NM, Maria G. Martinez of Lovington, NM, Maya Sue Courtney of Lovington, NM, and Cecilia Arenivas of Lovington, NM. Rosary will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 7:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel.
