Dorothy "Darlene" Hammer February 25, 1938 - February 15, 2018 Memorial services for Dorothy “Darlene” Hammer, 79, of Lovington, NM will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 10:00 am at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wayne Villar officiating. Darlene was born on February 25, 1938 in Dalhart, Texas to Clayborn Cagle and Claudia Sharp Cagle and passed away in Lubbock, TX on February 15, 2018. Darlene grew up and attended school in the Boise City, Ok and Dalhart, TX Area. She was a people person who loved celebrating the holidays and would cook and make them special for her family and friends. Thanksgiving was the “big” special holiday for her family and she made sure there was a huge spread of food for everyone. She was a fun Grandma that made Halloween special for the grandkids and at valentines, candy was placed out for all kids. She spent time with Amy when she was little making her cinnamon apples that Amy loved. She was employed for many years at Bob’s Thriftway and was a friendly person who made many friends while working there. She was a generous and giving person and if she saw a child that needed something she would slip money in their pocket. She always saw that no one was in need. She enjoyed dancing, Bingo and card games. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents: Clayborn and Myrtle Cagle, her husband Dick Hammer, two daughters: Debbie and Julie Feltman and her brother: Bobby Cagle and sister-in-law: Peggy Cagle. Surviving her is her son: Jimmy and wife Debi Feltman of Cortez, CO; two daughters: Kimi Jo Rinehart of Montana and Tammy Jones of Lovington, NM; two brothers: Tommy Cagle of Lovington and Johnny and wife Cathy Harris of Victoria, TX; three grandchildren: Amy Jones of Lovington, Robin Smith of Montana and Jessica and husband Mike McDonald of Cortez, CO; seven great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
