Obituary of Janette Hayes

Watch the Tribute Janette Hayes June 19, 1938 - December 09, 2010 Funeral services for Janette Hayes, 72, of Lovington, will be held on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 10:00 am at First Christian Church with Bro. Mike Crow officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Janette was born on June 19, 1938 in Ada, Oklahoma to Hershal and Mildred (Ekiss) Johnson and passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Lovington Good Samaritan Center. Janette moved to Lovington in November of 1969, making her home and raising her family here. She was a long-time member of First Christian Church. She was a versatile lady, having worked for Star Welding, for the Lovington Police Department, the Senior Citizen Center and also ran the Lea Theatre for many years. She also served on the board for Estacado Credit Union. She loved her family and grandchildren very much and was a very giving person. She enjoyed traveling and she enjoyed life, sometimes living on the edge, when she would parasail or zipline or take a helicopter ride. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Faye Johnson; two brothers: Kenny Johnson and Raymond Raines and one grandson: Brian Michael Hayes. She is survived by three sons: Chris Hayes, NM; Ruston and wife Donnie Hayes and Coby and wife Lajuan Hayes all of Lovington, NM and one daughter: Terri and husband Tommy Sursa of Hereford, TX; two sisters: Jackie and husband Fred Taliaferro of Lovington and Susie Sooter of Tatum, NM, eleven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 11th from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm and Sunday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
