Obituary of Joe Herrera

Joe Herrera Sr. August 25, 1920 - July 27, 2008 Funeral services for Joe Herrera Sr., 87, of Odessa, TX will be 10:00 am Thursday, July 31, 2008 at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Deacon Sam Navarette officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Rosary will be at 7:00 pm Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel. Mr. Herrera was born on August 25, 1920 in Marfa, TX. He passed away on July 27, 2008 in Odessa, TX. He married Lilia Dominguez Herrera on November 12, 1943 in Marfa, TX. Mr. Herrera liked going to the Senior Center to play pool and checkers. He enjoyed dancing and hunting, he also enjoyed having a drink once in a while. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He started working at C.R. Anthony in December 1960 and retired 25 years later in 1985. He is survived by two sons, Joe D. Herrera and wife Yolanda of El Paso, TX; Oscar Herrera of Odessa, TX; two daughters, Delfa Razo and husband Sonny of El Paso, TX; Elodia Aguilar of Las Vegas, NV; one brother, Raymundo Herrera and wife Celia of El Paso, TX; twelve grandchildren, David Ruck, Lorrie Arguijo, Dana Schuneman, Rey Herrera, Sonya Padilla, Tammy Aguilar, Valerie Dickerson, Joey Herrera, Victor Herrera, David Herrera, Natasha Herrera and Mia Aguilar; twelve great-grandchildren, Pasha Trevino, Parker Schuneman, J.D. Herrera, Christian Jordan Herrera, Sydney Dickerson, Krislynn Aguilar-Baeza, Elijah Herrera, Lucas Herrera, Isaac Padilla, Adena Padilla, Jacob Padilla and Jenna Padilla; one great-great grandchild, Landon Trevino. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lilia Herrera; his parents, Florentino and Maria Herrera; four brothers and two sisters.
