Obituary of Charles Ray Hinson

Charles Ray "Charlie" Hinson April 28, 1948 - November 05, 2017 Graveside memorial services for Charles “Charlie” Ray Hinson, 69, of Lovington, NM will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 11:00 am at Lovington Cemetery with Pastor Aaron Tiffany officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Charlie was born on April 28, 1948 in Eunice, NM to Herschel Ray and Mildred Louise (Flowers) Hinson and passed away in Hobbs, NM on November 5, 2017. He spent most of his life in Lovington and joined the US Army in 1969, serving in Alaska, California, Texas and Louisiana. After his discharge he was employed in the grocery store business for quite some time and then held various other jobs in later years. Charlie loved softball, fishing and being the statistician for the Wildcats. Christmas was his favorite time of the year and he liked getting presents for everyone early. He was a long time member of the Nazarene Church and enjoyed being an usher and asking questions about Jesus and our eternal home. He loved his family and nieces and nephews and was a gentle, kind hearted man. He believed in organ donation and wanted to help those that needed help, especially burn victims, so at his death, Charlie became a donor to do his part. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving him are his sisters: Gale Hinson of Lovington, NM and Marsha Welch of Ft. Smith, AR; one brother: Phil and wife Pat Hinson of Midland, TX; Nieces: Stacy and husband Todd Jones of Midland, TX; Jennifer and husband Nathan Lloyd of Odessa, TX; Amy and husband Johnnie Brown of Roland, OK; Nephews: Kelsey and wife Tara Hinson of Denver City, TX; Austin and wife Kendra Hinson of Andrews, TX; also great-nieces and nephews are: Hannah and Emily Jones, Kaitlyn, Tobi and Will Hinson, Maddox and Mila Hinson, Jacob, Gracie and Trinity Brown; and Emilia and Kendrick Lloyd.
