Lillian Annette Jones September 04, 1921 - January 17, 2018 Memorial services for Lillian Annette Jones, 96 of Lovington, NM will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church with Pastors: Harry Pittam and Matt Thackerson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Ms. Lillian was born on September 4, 1921 in Gilham, Arkansas to B. B. and Edna (Wagnon) Morris and passed away at her home in Lovington on January 17, 2018. When growing up, she liked walking in the woods with her sisters and was quite mischievous, as she used the fresh eggs to make mud pies and would burn her shoes so she could have new ones like her sister, Imogene. She married J. B. Jones in Carlsbad, NM on January 29, 1945 and they shared fifty six years and three children together. She attended NMJC and took many History and Psychology classes. She was an avid reader and a big collector of poems and sayings. She also wrote and sent many great letters and cards and when she came home from shopping she had more cards to send. She loved music and had some favorites such as Neil Diamond, Ray Price and especially liked the song “Chattanooga Choo Choo”. She was a great fan of the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball team and knew who the players were and had been in the past. She was a wonderful mother and loved her family and her cats, “Kitty Baby” and “Sidvicious. Her passion was her faith and her church. Ms. Lillian held the distinction of being the oldest and longest time member of First Baptist Church. She was also the “M & M” junkie candy eater! Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband and one sister: Doris Baty. Surviving her are her children: David and wife Patty Jones of McCamey, TX; Elaine and husband Gus Vigil of Lovington; and Amy and husband David Careaga of Albuquerque, NM; one sister: Imogene Hanners of Lovington, NM; four grandchildren: Rachel Osborne of Amarillo, TX, Matthew Jones of Odessa, TX, Billye Louder of Midland, TX and Robin Dillon of McKinney, TX; and fourteen great-grandchildren; also one niece, Alice Mainello of Lovington, NM and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home, 2200 South Ave I, Portales, NM 88130 in memory of Ms. Lillian.
