Obituary of Barney Monroe Bailey

Barney Monroe Bailey February 28, 1928 - September 15, 2011 Funeral services for Barney M. Bailey of Lovington, NM will be on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 10:00 AM at The First Presbyterian Church. Barney was born on February 28, 1928 in Lecompte, LA to Allen Monroe and Bessie (Sirman) Bailey. He married his lifelong companion, Shirley (Wood) Bailey, on May 21, 1951 in Lovington, NM. He passed away in Lovington, NM on September 15, 2011. Barney was a family-oriented and loving man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, but most of all doing work around his farm and with his animals. He was also very proud of his service in the US Navy. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Bill and Natie Bailey, and one son-in-law Donnie Haggerton. He is survived by his wife Shirley (Wood) Bailey of the home, three sons; Bill Bailey of Lovington, NM, Kevin Lee Bailey of Lovington, NM, and Bryan Monroe Bailey of Lovington, NM and one daughter; Karen Aline and husband Jim White of Marfa, TX. Two brothers; George and wife Julia Bailey of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Paul and wife Wanda Bailey of Forest Hill, Louisiana, and one sister Aline and husband J.D. Ford of Forrest Hill, Louisiana. He is also survived 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 18, 2011 from 1-6pm and Monday, September 19, 2011 from 8-8pm.
