Obituary of Ruby Estelle Lemley

Ruby Estelle Lemley May 23, 1922 - September 29, 2009 Funeral services for Ruby Estelle Lemley, 87, of Lovington, will be held on Friday, October 2, 2009 at 2:00 pm at 3rd and Central Church of Christ with Dale Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Services are being conducted by Kirby-Smith- Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Lemley was born on May 23, 1922 in Gordon, Texas to Jack and Minnie (Sims) Stockstill and passed away on September 29, 2009 in Lubbock, Texas. She married Alton T. Lemley in 1940 in Gordon, TX. She and her husband moved to Lovington in 1955. She had been a member of 3rd & Central Church of Christ since 1955. Mrs. Lemley enjoyed crocheting and was well known for her crocheted Strawberry dolls. She was also an excellent baker, making pies, cookies and other goodies for anyone and everyone. She was the epitome of a happy homemaker and her joy in life was taking care of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alton T. Lemley, two sons: Terry and Tommy Lemley, two sisters: Lily Warden and Clara Grisby, three brothers: Houston, O’Neal and Bill Stockstill,one grandson: Mark Lemley, and one daughter-in-law: Mona Lemley. She is survived by two sons: Donnie and wife Toni Lemley of Las Vegas, Nevada and Troy Lemley of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; one daughter: Ruby Fern Lemley of Hobbs and one daughter-in-law: Reva Lemley of Cheyenne, Wyoming; one sister: Ruth and husband Grady Paul of Mansfield, TX., seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, October 1, 2009 from 8 am until 8 pm and Friday from 8 am until noon.
