Obituary of Ruby Pearl Barber

Ruby Pearl Barber December 22, 1911 - January 11, 2008 A funeral service for Ruby Pearl Barber, 96, of Lovington, NM will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Hobbs First Assembly of God. Jimmy Carter and Todd Carter will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, January 13, 2008 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and Monday, January 14, 2008 from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel. Mrs. Barber was born December 22, 1911 in Jayton, Texas. She died January 11, 2008 in Lovington, NM. She married Lonnie Barber on October 15, 1932 in Brownfield, TX. She loved to go to church, read the Bible, quilt and sew and she loved to make German chocolate cakes. Survivors include one son, Steve Barber of Hobbs, NM; four daughters, Jean Culver and husband Grant of Hobbs, NM, Delores Swartz and husband Paul of Roswell, NM, Brenda Carter and husband Jimmy of Rio Rancho, NM and Wanda Barber of Lovington, NM; 23 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and 33 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Freddie Mae Nelson; her husband, Lonnie Barber; three sons, James Barber, Glenn Barber and Elven Barber; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and fourteen brothers and sisters.
