Funeral services for Conway Barnard, 89, of Hobbs will be at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel at 10 am on Tuesday, April 22nd with Pastor Beth Harrington officiating. Cremation will follow with burial at Lovington Cemetery on Saturday, April 26, 2008.
Mr. Barnard died on Friday, April 18th at Lea Regional Hospital in Hobbs. He was born on October 7, 1918 in Seagraves, Texas and was married to Marjorie Paulin on November 7, 1950 in Lovington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A.O. & Maggie Barnard, his wife, Margie; 1 son, Jerry Barnard, 1 sister, Zona Barnard, and 2 brothers, Everett & Leo Barnard.
He is survived by a sister, Pauline Loving of Odessa, Texas & 6 grandchildren, Jason Walker & wife Maria of Lovington, Lisa Burns & husband Kenyon of Ruidoso, NM, Brandon Walker of Hobbs, Kim Keener & husband Scott of Hobbs, Christine Barnard of Lubbock & Shay Barnard of Boise, Idaho. Also 6 great-grandchildren.
He moved from Buckeye to Lovington in 1963 & lived in Hobbs the last two years. He was a contract pumper before his retirement. He enjoyed the bridge club & VFW in Lovington. He served in the US Army Air Corp in WWII, receiving the EAME Campaigne medal with 6 bronze stars, the Good Conduct Medal, The American Defense Service medal with 1 bronze star & the American Theater Campaign medal. Services are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home.
