Obituary of John Mock

John "Buddy" Mock July 09, 1954 - January 12, 2014 John “Buddy” Mock, 59, of Lovington, New Mexico, was called to live with Jesus on Sunday, January 12, 2014. He was born in Muleshoe, Texas, on July 9, 1954 to the late John Joseph Mock and Elma Dean Mock. He married his best friend, Kim Bullard in 1975. They remain best friends to this day. Buddy graduated from Abernathy High School and received a bachelor’s degree in education from Angelo State University. He received a Masters degree in education from Sul Ross State University. He was a beloved teacher in Denver City for over 25 years, and then he continued as an educator in Lovington, New Mexico until 2013. Buddy passionately invested in mentoring any student that he encountered. He loved teaching chemistry, debate, and theatre; but he really just loved serving kids. He is preceded in death by his parents, and beloved sister Margie Sunny Mock, of Lubbock Texas. Buddy is survived by his loving family: his spouse; Kim Mock, his children; Jonathan and Holly Mock of Belton Texas; Justin and Katy Mock of San Angelo, Texas; Ben and Jarryn Prowell of Lubbock, Texas; and his cherished eight grandkids; Corbin, Callie, Michal, Emberly, Cade, Hudson, Jamison, and Preston. They love their Bubba almost as much as he loved them. He is also survived by his beloved sister, JoAnn Williams, of Lubbock Texas, along with multiple nieces and nephews. A “Celebration of Life” service will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Pannell Auditorium in Lovington, NM. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
