Obituary of Albert Ozborn

Albert "Suckerrod" Ozborn March 04, 1935 - January 03, 2017 Funeral services for Albert Hughes Ozborn, 81, of Maljamar, NM will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 9:00 am at Church of the Living Waters with Pastors Danny and Shirley Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Spur, Texas at 3:00 pm Texas time Friday afternoon. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Ozborn was born on March 4, 1935 in Roaring Springs, TX to Fisher Phillip and Elizabeth (Marshall) Ozborn and passed away on January 3, 2017 in Lovington. He grew up in Roaring Springs and at age fifteen started working for Matador Ranch and then later for Pitchfork Ranch and in 1963 he came to Martin Ranch and worked there for 53 years. His life was ranching and he was an excellent horseman. He took great joy and pride in roping, making bits, spurs, boots, chaps and trailers. He was very talented and the kind of man that pushed himself everyday and worked hard. He was given the nickname, “Suckerrod” and many of his friends only know him by that name. Honesty and integrity was a vital part of his personality and you could say he was “the epitome of a true cowboy” and cowboy ways. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Marion Lee Ozborn, one son: Jimmy Lee Ozborn; five brothers: Odell, Nolan, Olan, Jr. and Rooster Ozborn and one sister. Surviving him is his son Phillip and wife Troy Lee Ozborn of Maljamar, NM and one brother: Curtis and wife Linda Ozborn of Spur, TX and his special friend: Shirley Blankenship of Paducah, TX; four grandchildren: Crystal McCoy, Chad Ozborn, Zach and wife Vanessa Ozborn, and Makayla Ozborn and one great-grandson: Zane Ozborn. Visitation will be Thursday, January 5th from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home
