Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Sandra was born on August 20, 1942 in Joplin, Missouri to Harold Jr. and Joy Lee (Wade) French and passed away on November 28, 2017 in Lubbock, Texas. A Missouri girl by birth but New Mexico would capture her heart by way of Dal Alexander. Thinking she came to Lovington to visit family but a chance encounter with Dal would change her life’s path. A short time later she would walk down the aisle, right into a life of happily ever after; a life that evolved into motherhood where her strongest gifts could be seen. Betty Crocker was no match for her. Her flair for flavor was demonstrated in everything she cooked as she was the “Queen of our Kitchen”! She was also a seamstress extraordinaire; mending, patching and creating. Knowing her daughters’ love for horses and talent-she became the best Jr. Rodeo mom. She drove to the ends of the earth so her girls could ride as fast as the wind. Their interests were her interests and she could shift from rodeo mom to cheer mom in an instant. Sorry Dr. Phil, but a talk with Sandra brought great wisdom and loving insight balanced with common sense. But it was her style and beauty that was iconic. She took time to always do it right. When she walked into a room her presence turned heads, not just because of her beauty but because of her loving spirit and noble character. The gift that made her shine brightest was the gift of being “Grammy.” There’s a little piece of her reflecting from each of her beloved grandchildren. Laying aside all her other gifts and amazing attributes it was her strength and faith in God that set her apart. Health issues and pain would rob some of her happily ever after, but what emerged was a great prayer warrior, a woman with Biblical insight and a heart filled with Godly love and compassion. It is those faith-filled characteristics that brings the hope and knowledge that as she drew her last breath on earth her next breath was on Heaven’s peaceful shore; a place where she found pain-free wholeness and renewed strength resting in the arms of her Savior. So today we celebrate a life well-lived… She was preceded in death by her parents: Harold Jr. and Joy Lee French. Surviving her is her husband Dal Alexander of Lovington, NM; three daughters: Dena and husband Cliff Kirkpatrick of Post, TX, Teri and husband Tim George of Dripping Springs, TX and Carla Alexander of Lovington, NM; two brothers: Michael and wife Paula French of Riverton, KS, and Randy and wife Debra French of Baxter Springs, KS; one sister: Jennifer Shoemaker of Galena, KS; four grandchildren: Sarah and husband Robert Tofan of Ft. Worth, TX, Hannah Kirkpatrick of Ft. Worth, TX, Will and wife Jessica George of Dripping Springs, TX, and Daniel Alexander of Odessa, TX; and three great-grandchildren: Jillian George, Jackson George, and R.C Tofan. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm with the family in residence at the funeral home from 4:00 - 5:30 pm.
