Obituary of Steven Buck Phillips

Steven Buck Phillips October 24, 1969 - November 19, 2009 Funeral services for Steven B. Phillips, 40, of Lovington, will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 1:00 pm at Revival Center Church in Lovington with David Villar officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Steven was born on October 24, 1969 in Lovington to Gerald & Arleta (Bagley) Phillips and passed away on November 19, 2009. He grew up in Lovington, graduating from LHS and attended Eastern NM University. He was employed by Pro-Kem, Inc. for many years. He was an avid rock hunter, enjoyed deer & quail hunting and he loved doing things with the kids. He was an ordained lay minister, played the drums at New Beginnings and Revival Center Churches, and spent a great deal of his time studying the Bible. He was very active in prison ministry and enjoyed studying, writing and sharing from his studies. He was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents. He is survived by his father and step-mother, Gerald and Ellen Phillips of Lovington, NM, one daughter: Taylor Jordan Phillips of Lubbock, TX, one brother: Kent and wife Dede Phillips of Alamogordo, NM and one sister : Connie Jean and husband Vance Jackson of Britt, Iowa; three stepchildren: James, Paul and Sarah Catlett of Lovington and one step-brother: Robert Williams of Lovington, NM; his nieces and nephews: Aaron, Amber, Garrett, Roby, Keith, Jeremy, Bethany, Haleigh, Cassie and Nate and Great-nephew, Eli; Step-nieces and nephews are Kelli, Chad, Bobby, Lindsey and Samantha; great-step-nieces and nephews are: Ethan, Lyla, Katelynn, Allison, Diego, Maylee, Jordan and Jake; step-sister-in-law: Suzanne and Russell Norris and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Prison Ministries, 321 W. Washington, Lovington, NM 88260 or to New Beginnings Church, PO Box 42, Lovington, NM 88260. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 24, 2009 from 8:30 am until 8:00 pm.
