Obituary of Glen Chastain

Glen Chastain November 09, 1930 - July 22, 2016 Graveside services for Glen Chastain, 85, of Lovington, NM will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 10:00 am at Lovington Cemetery with David Villar officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Glen was born on November 9, 1930 to Tilman and Grace (Buchanan) Chastain in Stamps, Arkansas and passed away on July 22, 2016 at his residence. He married the love of his life Frances LeMay in Lewisville, Arkansas on January 8, 1955 and they shared sixty one years of life together. Glen was a kind, gentle, considerate soft spoken man. He never threw away anything that was broken because he knew he could fix it. Glen loved his daughters and their husbands, his grandchildren, and great grandchildren, they meant the world to him. Those babies made him smile. He was a skilled mechanic and worked for various companies in the oilfield. He was an avid woodworker, hunter, and fisherman. He attended New Beginnings Church and was loved by all. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and he looked forward each day to meeting his buddies for an afternoon share session. He was preceded in death by his parents; and stepmother: Mary Chastain He is survived by his wife Frances of the home; two daughters: Debbie and husband Steve Wier of Lovington, NM, Glenna and husband Gary Jameson of Lovington, NM; one step-brother: Dan Rogers of Houston, TX.; one half-sister: Lynda Bell of Smithville, TX; four grandchildren: Caden and wife Ashley Jameson, Aaron and wife Crystal Ayala, Matt and wife Christy Ayala, and Kelsi and Jonathan Hernandez; twelve great-grandchildren and a host of loved ones and coffee drinking friends. Visitation will be on Sunday July 24, 2016 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm with the family at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Condolences may be sent to www.kirbysmithrogers.com.
