Obituary of Dorthy Ann Pruit

Dorthy Ann Pruit December 30, 1922 - July 19, 2013 Memorial service for Dorthy Ann Pruit, 90, of Fort Worth, Tx will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home Chapel at 1:30 pm with David Stewart officiating. A reception will follow at 3rd & Central Church of Christ. Dorthy was born on December 30, 1922 in Anson, Texas to the late L.J (Jack) and Selma (Sanders) Kelly and passed away Friday, July 19, 2013. Her family moved from Anson, TX to Eunice, N.M in 1935. She graduated from Eunice High School and attended Eastern New Mexico University. She married the late John Conrade (Connie) Pruit in 1941. Dorthy and Connie lived in Maljamar, N.M as newlyweds then moved to Lovington, N.M . Dorthy was elected Lea County Treasurer for several terms and also served Lea County in other capacities. She was widely respected for her integrity and her work ethic. She was an active member of the Church of Christ. She was a beloved and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a wonderful storyteller. Her smile was infectious and she was a joy to all who knew her. There was nothing she loved more than visiting with family and friends. As long as she was able she enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing games with family, and watching sporting events, especially tennis. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her son Gene, her sister Jeanne Kelly, and her infant sister Frances Kelly. She is survived by two sons: John and wife Pam Pruit of Midlothian, Tx; Curry and wife Nadine Pruit of Germantown, TN; one daughter Annette and husband Ted Greathouse of Fort Worth, TX; seven grandchildren fifteen great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends.
