Obituary of William Alexander

William "Bill" Alexander May 21, 1959 - May 20, 2017 Funeral services for William “Bill” Alexander, 57, of Hobbs, NM and formerly of Lovington, NM will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 9:30 am at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Matt Bridges officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Bill was born on May 21, 1959 in Hobbs, NM to Ben O. and Joyce (Allman) Alexander Holder and passed away on May 20, 2017 in Lubbock, TX. Bill had been in an accident when he was three years of age and when he was twenty one he went to live in a facility in Clovis and then in 1985 he moved to Leaders to a group home in Hobbs, NM. He has made his home at Leaders since that time. He shares a group home with three others and a staff person. He was happy and that was home to him. He enjoyed sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, watching TV and liked to play pranks on his friends, especially on April Fool’s Day. He had a wonderful sense of humor and he loved going to church, it was very important to him. He went with the group to the movies, to little league events, dances and parties. Bill liked holiday time and the parties they would attend. Crosswinds Community Church did a lot of things for the residents of Leaders and all of them enjoyed the events. He was preceded in death by his Father, Ben O. Alexander and one sister: Ann Alexander Kuhl. Surviving him is his mother: Joyce Holder of Lovington, NM one sister: Jane and husband Alan Massey of Denton, TX; one nephew: Craig A. Mass of Atlanta, Georgia and two nieces: Amy Kuhl Lazerson of Stafford, Virginia and Emily Kuhl of Alexandria, Virginia and a lot of friends.
