Obituary of Michael Lloyd Saffel

Michael Lloyd Saffel January 25, 1950 - August 27, 2011 Funeral Services for Michael Lloyd Saffel, 61, of Hobbs NM will be at The First United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 10:00AM with Rev. Vergil Ichtertz officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Lovington, NM. Michael was born on January 25, 1950 in Yazoo City, MS to Roy Edwin Sr. and Mildred (Cain) Saffel, and passed away on August 27, 2011 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. Michael was a good-hearted person whom loved to help others. He enjoyed looking at car magazines, going to the movies, camping, and attending monster truck rallies. He loved traveling with his family and riding with the top down. He is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother of Montclair CA, two sisters; Kaye Buchholtz of Amarillo, TX and Mickey and husband Jim Gallivan of Pomona California and one brother; Roy E. Saffel Jr. of Schulenberg, Texas. Also by numerous nieces, nephews; Michele and husband Rick Lias of Upland, CA, Cheley and husband Chris Galligher of Midlothian, Yvonne and husband Phillip Au of Riverside, CA, Melissa and husband Bryan McWilliams of Amarillo, TX, Nicholas and wife Morina Saffel of Atlanta, GA, Angella and husband Quinton Marburger of Cameron, TX, Adam and wife Elaina Saffel of Portland Oregon, Lyndsay and husband Chris Lee of Houston, TX, Phillip and wife Amanda Saffel of Lubbock, TX, Danielle and husband Oliver Thomas of Bogota, Colombia and Britney and Nick Gallivan of Pomona, CA. His great nieces and nephews were like his grandchildren and included; Allison Au, Cosett Lias, Austin Au, Cameron Galligher, Ricky Lias, Courtney Galligher, Gracie Marburger, Paisley Marburger, Bentley Marburger, Emma McWilliams, Reagan Saffel, Natalie Saffel, Eli Saffel and Olivia Saffel, He is also survived by the loving residents and staff at Leaders in Hobbs, NM. Visitation will be on Friday, September 2, 2011 at Kirby-Smit-Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations may be made to Leaders at 115 W. Dunham St. in Hobbs, NM 88240.
