Richard was born on July 10, 1951 in Wichita Falls, TX to Kirby Dick Schenck and Irma Lee Jones and passed away in Lovington on April 1, 2017. Richard grew up helping on the ranch NE of Lovington. He was a 4-H member and did well showing calves. He enjoyed playing sports; football, basketball and baseball while attending school at LHS. After gradation he attended Oklahoma Tech. At one time during his youth, he was involved in a band called “The Wild Cats” with Harold Lawson, Rickey Bressler, Richard Rogers and Bill Bailey. They would practice in the barn at the ranch (as they were loud) and the cows would come up and circle the barn while they played. Richard was well known for his “joyful singing”! He and Michael enjoyed fishing together every year for about 18 years, first sleeping in the truck, then a tent and then a camper. He liked going to football games with his Dad, Jack and was a very enthusiastic cheerleader, hollering really loud. During the years, Richard was very astute in keeping up with his school friends and buddies. He was very active in the Kairos Prison Ministry and also Higher Ground at one time, and was a faithful attendee of the “Men’s Breakfast Club” at church. On Saturday mornings he would cook the breakfast for all of the men but had to bring the salsa that Fatima Faith made to make the men happy. His Christian walk meant a great deal to him and he was a devoted minister to couples and men especially. He was a quiet man about the good things he did in his life to help others and was a generous giver.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kirby Dick Schenck. Surviving him is his wife, Carol of the home; his parents: Jack and Irma Lee Aduddell of Lovington; three sons: Michael and wife Theresa Schenck of Dallas, TX; Jake and Jenna Rogers of Whitehouse, TX and Luke Rogers and friend Lucas Romero of Albuquerque, NM; two daughters: Julie and husband Gene Sueltenfuss of Llano, TX, Miranda Schenck of Carrollton, TX; two brothers: Rowdy and wife Debra Schenck of Carlsbad, NM and Dean and wife Angie Aduddell of Lovington; two sisters: Martha Blevins of San Angelo, TX and Laura Emig of Hobbs, NM; eight grandchildren and a host of friends.
