Obituary of Wanda Lou Singleton

Wanda Lou Singleton February 11, 1947 - November 21, 2013 Wanda Lou Singleton, 66, of Tatum, New Mexico passed away on November 21, 2013 in Lubbock, TX. She was born on February 11, 1947 in Abilene, Texas to Charles and Blanche (Payne) Sylvester. She married Robert “Bob” Singleton in Tatum on December 7, 1973. Wanda had lived in Tatum for thirty five years. She was a substitute teacher for many years and was a member of Tatum First Baptist Church where she also had taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She enjoyed reading and especially her Bible; visiting with her friends and drinking coffee with them; taking her grandkids shopping and doing word search puzzles. She has lived in Lubbock for the last few months, part of that time at the “Sherick” and more recently at Lakeridge Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. She loved her family and totally enjoyed being with her grandchildren. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Surviving her are two sons: Gary and wife Mary Helen Singleton of El Paso, TX; Michael and wife Yolanda Singleton of Hobbs, NM; two daughters: Karen and husband David Hubbard of Lubbock, TX and Kaylynn and husband Dennis Lloyd of Colo, Iowa; three sisters: Brenda and husband Lee Hassler of Capitan, NM; Sue Miers of Eunice, NM and Jean Slaughter of Baytown, TX; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at a later date in Tatum. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home.
